Wider Curriculum

Through the creative lessons taught, our children develop an appreciation of the past and an understanding of their geographical environment and the world around them. We want children to be aware of their impact on the world and know that the choices they make can affect the world around them.

Where it can be achieved purposefully, cross-curricular learning takes place across all subjects to provide a depth of understanding and the opportunity to teach pupils transferable skills for memorable learning. This gives meaning and real-life application to children’s educational experiences.

The children are immersed in their theme and use ICT skills to present their learning. They use creative technologies including iPad apps such as SeeSaw, DoInk, Green Screen and iMovie to bring their learning to life.

Learning Journey Walls in every classroom, display work which celebrates the progression of skills and knowledge that has taken place and are a reflection and a celebration of individual learning.

Where appropriate, educational visits are planned to provide first-hand learning experiences which enhance, and provide depth to, children’s learning and understanding.
